SETTING AND FINISHING POWDERS
We’ve come a long way from the days of using talcum powder and a puff over absolutely everything, there’s a science to setting powders and how to use them correctly. Read on to find out which is right for you!
Starting with the classic, Kryolan Translucent powder is the traditional all rounder to get you through the day.
Translucent Powder is a setting powder for full coverage cream and fluid foundations. Developed with a large amount of modified rice starch, the ingredients have been specifically designed to ensure optimal absorption qualities which increase durability on a high-performance level. Therefore, making it suitable for full coverage foundations or those containing a high amount of oils. It’s the perfect setting powder for professional use and equally as effective for everyday full coverage make-ups. Translucent Powder has a matt finish and is incredibly long lasting. The powder comes in translucent as well as a variety of tinted options in order to warm or cool the foundations slightly where necessary.
Apply Translucent Powder with a powder puff and remove the excess with a powder brush
Pro Tip: The fully translucent TL1 is perfect for baking or place an excess amount under the eyes to catch any fallout when applying eye makeup. When you brush off the powder the fallout will be swept away with it.
This powder comes in a 15g size, a 60g size or a whopping 400g, perfect for backstage use.
Now for something completely new!
Translucent Compact Event is a pressed powder with tiny, elegantly shimmering reflections. This powder provides a satin finish to the skin by its light reflecting ingredient Mica, a natural mineral. It can be used alone, directly onto skin, or can be used to effectively set sheer to medium coverage foundations. The radiant powder can also be used on the body for a subtle glow or over set foundation to bring back a natural luminosity to the finished effect of the skin. The light reflection can help to reduce visible texture on the surface of the make-up softening full coverage applications. Vegan friendly.
This powder is designed as a finishing powder to add shine to the skin so can be used in conjunction with any setting/ fixing powders in the range.
Pro Tip: To increase the shine simply buff with a clean powder brush, this will activate the mica pigments and accentuate a beautiful glow. For best results apply as a finishing product over set foundation.
Dermacolor Fixing Powder is a loose powder that not only sets cream and liquid makeup, but waterproofs and mattes. Designed to be used with Dermacolour Camouflage Cream, Fixing Powder comes in a variety of shades, is compatible with face and body, and is fragrance free. It can be used lightly to set the face for a matte and water resistant wear, or heavily packed and baked into the skin such as for tattoo coverage for a fully water and smudge proof wear. (check our Tattoo Cover Blog!)
Because it is loose, Dermacolour Fixing Powder can be lightly dusted onto skin as a translucent powder that sets makeup. Due to its matte and waterproofing qualities it is recommended to use less at a time when setting the entire face for more natural wear.
Fixing Powder can also be used to bake makeup. With a Powder Puff, the powder can be packed onto the face and body and left to sit for 15 minutes. The synergy between powder and Camouflage cream is key to making the application waterproof. Excess powder can then be dusted off lightly with a brush and set with Fixing Spray. This process works for heavier wearing of makeup such as cosplay, drag and tattoo coverage
Pro Tip: Though designed for use with the Dermacolor range, Fixing Powder can be used with any liquid and cream makeup such as TV Paintstick and Digital Complextion Fluid.
This powder comes in 20g size or 60g size.

The product does not affect the foundation underneath as Blot Powder does not add any colour or texture. Blot Powder was specifically developed as a retouch product to be applied to any model in front or behind the camera.
